Faith and Disability Resources

This year I have the privilege of presenting at the clergy and laity sessions of the West Ohio Annual Conference. The topic of my presentation will be ministry with people with disabilities.

Because it’s simply impossible to say everything I’d like to say in a 30-minute presentation, I’ve included some supplemental resources here. This includes source citations, videos shown during the presentation, and other resources that might be helpful for people who are interested in engaging in this kind of ministry.

You can find sources for the statistics I cited at The Inclusive Church  and Disabilities and Faith.org.

Here are the presentation videos:

Stillwater UMC Special Friends Ministry

Huber Heights Sulphur Grove UMC “Gentle Worship”

Jean Vanier: Seeing God In Others

And here are some other very helpful resources:

CLC Network

Starting a Special Needs Ministry

The Summer Institute on Theology and Disability

Disability Scoop: Developmental Disability News

The Values and Faith Alliance

Joni and Friends

Five Myths About Disability Ministry

Friendship Ministries

Cerebral Palsy Group
